Schedule of play:

Match focus:

Casey Dellacqua vs. Venus Williams

Currently in WTA, nobody is playing well consistently, with the exception of maybe Venus Williams. Coming off a title in Dubai, Venus is playing with renewed confidence. Besides, she is practically playing at home here in Miami. Casey has been in form, but the home crowd will definitely be rooting for Venus. She's my dark horse pick for the final.

Pick: Venus in 2 sets

Sloane Stephens vs. Caroline Wozniacki

Any match with Wozniacki is a roller coaster now. The Dane's steady game is being dismantled by most players, and even Puig got close to an upset. Stephens has never beaten Wozniacki before, but she will like her chances now. Under a new coach, Sloane seemed to be on the right track, and her test will be against Wozniacki. If she can beat the steady Dane, it shows that her partnership with Paul Annacone is working. Caroline doesn't really do anything spectacular on court nowadays, so it doesn't take a lot to beat her.

Pick: Stephens in 2 tight sets

Alize Cornet vs. Dominika Cibulkova

Nothing is straightforward for the drama queen, Alize Cornet. The Frenchwoman's "allez" can get annoying, but she will meet her match with Cibulkova's incessant "pome"s. Right now, I would rate both of them equally, but Cibulkova does have a title in Acapulco, and a final appearance in Melbourne. Dominika leads the head to head 2-0, but both encounters were on clay. Suffice to say, on the faster hard courts, Cibulkova is the firm favourite. She needs to be careful though, not to let Cornet irritate her into errors.

Pick: Cibulkova in 2 sets

Sure win bets: Elina Svitolina, Agnieszka Radwanska, Venus Williams
Upset alert: Varvara Lepchenko, Caroline Wozniacki, Carla Suarez Navarro
