Victoria Azarenka def. Serena Williams 7-6(6) 2-6 6-3
Victoria Azarenka exorcises her demons and defeated the great Serena Williams in a tight match. She held up mentally and survived the second set barrage from Serena. Good signs for Azarenka as this could turn into an interesting rivalry. Serena was below par today but fought to the bitter end. She's obviously disappointed but she got what she deserved, the number 1 ranking. Let's hope these 2 ladies have plenty more intense battles ahead in this year.
