Match focus:

Urzsula Radwanska vs. Magdalena Rybarikova

Rybarikova is coming off a good showing in Birmingham. She will take on last year's finalist, Urzsula Radwanska. Magdalena has a very good grass game and she should be the slight favourite here. However, Radwanska is defending finalist points and I'm sure she's very motivated to do as well as last year. I will give the edge to Rybarikova as she has the bigger serve.

Pick: Rybarikova in 3 sets

Tamira Paszek vs. Caroline Wozniacki

Wow... Must somebody win this match? In this battle of the slump queens, defending champion Tamira takes on possibly the worst top 10 player now. Both are absolutely devoid of form and I'm sure pretty happy to see that they are facing each other. Tamira has played a match in Birmingham, so she's not arriving here lacking in grass matches. Wozniacki seems to be more content following her boyfriend and updating her twitter with sweet nothings. If there is a god, Tamira should win this as she's still trying hard despite her loss of form. Caroline is just happy being where she is, a middling tennis player.

Pick: Paszek in 3 sets

Agnieszka Radwanska vs. Jamie Hampton

Elder sister, Agnieszka is the top seed here in Eastbourne. She faces a tricky opponent in Jamie Hampton, who is fast becoming the player that top players want to avoid. Accounting for Kvitova's exit in Paris, Jamie has the game and self-belief to upset players. Her massive forehand should do some damage on grass. However, I believe Agnieszka's guile will tide her through this match. Even if she loses early, I'm sure she's not bothered as she went on to reach the Wimbledon finals despite an early exit last year.

Pick: Radwanska in 2 tight sets

Sure win bets: Petra Kvitova, Li Na, Carla Suarez Navarro
Upset alert: Hsieh Su-Wei, Lucie Safarova, Roberta Vinci
