Indian Wells day 7: Another one bites the dust

What a massive shocker yesterday to see Sharapova being outhit by the fearless Giorgi. The defending champion will be losing lots of points. as her woeful season continues. Will more upsets come? Let's see...

Schedule of play:

Match focus:

Jelena Jankovic vs. Caroline Wozniacki

Jelena Jankovic has not beaten Wozniacki since 2010, right here in Indian Wells. She went on to lose 5 consecutive matches against the Dane since. However, their last meeting was in 2012, where Jankovic was lost in the woods, and Wozniacki was still in relatively good form. The roles are reversed now as Wozniacki is suffering weird defeats left and right, and Jankovic being solid as a rock. This is the perfect chance for Jelena to even the head to head. The Serbian needs to take advantage of Wozniacki's frailty and end the point aggressively. I will be surprised if Jelena manages to lose this.

Pick: Jankovic in 2 sets

Simona Halep vs. Eugenie Bouchard

After an impressive showing against Errani, will Bouchard continue her good form against Halep? Eugenie seemed to be back in business with her dismissal of the Italian, but Simona has definitely offer more resistance than Sara. Simona scrambles around the court well enough, and returns the ball with interest. Eugenie will need to be patient and choose the correct moment to attack. This will be a close match, but I think the steadier Halep will come through.

Pick: Halep in 3 sets

Dominika Cibulkova vs. Petra Kvitova

The unpredictable Kvitova once again goes through in 3 sets against Kuznetsova. She will meet the improving Cibulkova for a place in the quarter-finals. The Melbourne finalist has been enjoying a stellar season, and I won't be surprised if she manages to score another upset here. Cibulkova just needs to keep her first serve percentage high, and scramble around the court to make Kvitova hit that extra ball. One of the hardest workers versus someone who's talented but lacks discipline, I will go for the hard work.

Pick: Cibulkova in 3 sets

Sure win bets: Li Na, Agnieszka Radwanska, Lauren Davis
Upset alert: Petra Kvitova, Flavia Pennetta
