Shockers:
Coco Vandewaghe def. Jelena Jankovic 6-4 6-2
Seriously, I wonder why Jelena even bothers to turn up when she's playing so badly. Jelena needs a break to regain her confidence, not suffering baffling losses like this to dent her morale further. Coco has been heralded as American's next big hope but she failed to breakthrough all these years. Losing to her should be embarassing. Losing to her with such a scoreline? Maybe professional tennis isn't for you. Jelena, take a break. You need it.
Laura Robson def. Roberta Vinci 6-3 7-5
Wow... Laura Robson proves me wrong and takes out clay veteran Roberta Vinci in straight sets. I have long doubted Robson's decision to play on clay but it turns out to be a good one. Being a typical clay court, Robson must have played lights out tennis to win in such a straight-forward scoreline. Good showing from the young Briton. Will be interesting for British tennis with Laura and Heather Watson making some noise.
Yanina Wickmayer def. Marion Bartoli 6-3 6-2
Marion Bartoli is the first player to beat Victoria Azarenka this year. But after beating her, she seemed to be cursed as her results has been totally lackluster since then. This week, she suffers another puzzling loss to Yanina Wickmayer, committing 9 double faults in this short match. No idea why she is going for so much in her 2nd serve. If she continues this, her days in the top 10 are numbered. As for Yanina, a good win for her since she suffered a shoulder injury not so long ago. Hopefully it has been fully recovered.
Barbora Zahlavova-Strycova def. Julia Goerges 7-6 6-7 6-1
