Serverena emerges

(3) Agnieszka Radwanska def. (8) Angelique Kerber 6-3 6-4

Angelique's amazing run is stopped by the 3rd seed. Agnieszka went from losing to Pironkova in Eastbourne to reaching the finals of Wimbledon. What a turnaround. And after that loss, she claimed to like hard courts better. Anyway, Kerber held an early lead in the first set at 3-1 but proceeded to lose the next 5 games. She went down by an early break in the second and never recovered. Disappointing as Radwanska's serve is not exactly atomic. Radwanska proves her doubters wrong by reaching her first semi-finals and now is the first Polish finalist since... god knows when. If she continues, she might really end up being year-end number 1 this year.

(6) Serena Williams def. (2) Victoria Azarenka 6-3 7-6(6)

There was nothing that Victoria Azarenka can do today against Serverena. Serverena bombed down 24 aces, equivalent of 6 games. How do you counter that? When you're serving that well, your ground-game doesn't even need to be that good as seen today. Serverena's forehand was shaky and leaked errors and short balls. But she doesn't need to worry as her next shot will almost certainly be an ace or an unreturnable serve. Just an amazing performance by Serverena. If she serves like this in the final, it will most definitely be Slam number 14 for her.

Final showdown:

(3) Agnieszka Radwanska vs. (6) Serena Williams

Agnieszka Radwanska has never beaten Serena Williams before and has never won more than 4 games off her. With Serverena's performance today, it is unlikely to change. Possessing such a massive weapon will allow Williams to tee off Radwanska's less than impressive serve. Anyway, the Pole will be satisfied with her first slam final. She has nothing to lose but she cannot outhit Serena. So, it's tough to see another outcome to this match. I guess it's congratulations to Serena Williams on your 5th Wimbledon title. :)

Pick: Williams in straight sets
