Wimbledon SF: Third time's the charm for Genie?

Petra Kvitova vs. Lucie Safarova

A Czech is guaranteed in the finals and it will almost surely be Kvitova. Lucie Safarova just cannot find a way to beat her compatriot no matter the surface. Both play a similar game, but Kvitova has more sting to her strokes. It will be an uphill task for Safarova to claim her first win over Petra here in such an important event. She always pushes Petra, but cannot crumble at the pivotal moment. I don't expect anything different here.

Pick: Kvitova in 2 sets

Simona Halep vs. Eugenie Bouchard

Eugenie Bouchard is appearing in her 3rd consecutive slam semi-final, making her the most consistent performer in the slams. She will be eager to break that barrier and reach her first slam final here in Wimbledon. Standing in her way is the ever reliable Simona Halep, who has been quietly dominant in her passage to the semi-finals. Both players have been performing well on the big events, and it will be a more interesting match than the other match-up. Simona is great at nullifying the power her opponents give her, while Eugenie thrives at taking time away from her opponents by taking the ball early. Both players to me, are equally matched in every department, with Halep having a slight mental edge. The only time this pair met was earlier this year in Indian Wells, where Halep fought back to win a close affair. Let's see if Eugenie has matured enough and improved on her mental game since then.

Pick: Halep in 3 tight sets
