Upset of the day:

Mona Barthel def. Ana Ivanovic 6-1 3-6 6-0

Underrated Mona Barthel claims another upset as she cruised past Ana Ivanovic (discounting the second set). Ana's inability to cope with anyone playing well is truly worrying. Top players find a way to tide over the storm but Ana just whimpers and cries when she faces an in-form player. That said, there's only so much you can do when Mona is producing this kind of tennis. This German can hit effortlessly hard and makes the game look easy. If she continues her form, she will be sure to crack the top 20 and even the top 10 with a good slam result.

Garbine Muguruza def. Magdalena Rybarikova 6-4 6-0

Garbine Muguruza wins 5 matches here to reach the 4th round of a premier event. She seems to like the Indian Weells-Miami swing as she did well here last year as well. Playing someone with Rybarikova's game is relatively easy, go to her weaker side, the backhand. Magdalena possesses a great serve and forehand but that backhand will be eaten up by better players. With today's racket technology, players must know how to hit winners from both sides. Garbine faces Kerber next and who knows, there might be another upset.
