Svetlana is fast becoming the player who everyone dreads to see in their part of the draw. After accounting for the former number 1 Jelena Jankovic, Svetlana will attempt to topple Bartoli in the third round. Sveta has already beaten Bartoli in Doha and the Frenchwoman is having a dreadful year. The highest ranked player she beat this year is Klara Zakopalova at 22, and Klara did beat her in Shenzhen earlier this year. No explanation to this slump except maybe she feeling a bit lost after she dumped her father as a coach. Anyway, Kuznetsova should prevail, unless she is wearing her leggings.

Dominika is just back from an injury where she cramped up badly against Dolonc in Fed Cup. Cramps aren't tough injuries to recover from so I expect Dominika to be back physically. Klara is enjoying her late career surge this year and will be sure to put up a good fight against the diminutive Slovak. Klara has the game to win this match, but I don't think she believes in herself too much. Look for a choke when Klara is near the finishing line.

Petra Kvitova vs. Lesia Tsurenko
Just when you thought Kvitova is back, she struggles with herself and almost loses her opening match here in Indian Wells. That's how unpredictable this Czech is. Lesia Tsurenko is riding high on confidence after a breakout year and will be sure to put up a good showing here. Will Petra's serving woes continue to plague her? Or did she slog the necessary hours on court to fix her serve? I think Kvitova will struggle, but still get through despite her problems.
