Match analysis:
Serena Williams def. Victoria Azarenka w/o
Match? What match? Victoria must be crapping in her pants at the aspect of facing Serena that she came up with the lamest excuse to withdraw from their match. She said she suffered an injury due to a 'bad pedicure'. Well, why don't you withdraw against players like Sabine Lisicki and Ksenia Pervak? Is it because you can still beat them with one leg? Pitiful excuse really from the current world number 1. Well, Serena is also another frequent offender but at least she comes up with reasons that seem plausible. Azarenka's demolition job of her previous opponents saw her flying across the court like a bird. What injury? Please.
Klara Zakopalova def. Monica Niculescu 6-1 6-3
Finally, someone takes out the junk... baller. Klara continues her red hot form by brushing aside the Romanian with utter ease. Monica actually didn't play that badly but the Czech was on fire. She adjusted well to the awkward shots that Niculescu was throwing at her and played great defense when needed. Where is the sulky Klara I know? Well, if she is always playing this well, I don't see a reason for her to sulk. She will be a real test for Li tomorrow and hopefully can add another title to her resume.
Agnieszka Radwanska def. Jamie Hampton 7-6(4) 7-6(3)
Wow. Great fight from the young American who pushed Radwanska to the limit. Granted that Agnieszka wasn't moving well, a close match shows that you can hang in the best. Agnieszka looked lethargic but yet managed to secure a trip back. With Sloane Stephens, Hampton will be touted as America's next star.
