Roland Garros SF: RG2013 = USO2012?

Maria Sharapova vs. Victoria Azarenka

With the exact line up as last year's US Open, will Azarenka similarly beat Sharapova again? Maria had a nightmare set against Jankovic yesterday but she fought very hard and came out with the win despite that hiccup. Glad she got that one bad set out because it's important not to peak too early. Azarenka's semi-final debut makes her the less experienced one. Victoria has had an easier path here so I think it will be an uphill task for her to dethrone Sharapova.

Pick: Sharapova in 3 sets

Sara Errani vs. Serena Williams

Sara Errani has never beaten Serena Williams before and I don't expect that to change. Serena will just ruthlessly destroy Errani's soft serve and with her passive return games, Errani cannot expect to break to many times. What the Italian needs to do is to take it to Serena, play aggressive and end the points at the net. However, judging by the US Open semi-finals and recent defeat in Madrid, Errani just cannot do that. So it's safe to say Serena has a safe path to the finals, even the title.

Pick: Serena in 2 sets
