Olympics: Golden Slam for GOATrena

Serena Williams def. Maria Sharapova 6-0 6-1

Serena Williams totally annihilated Maria Sharapova, giving her only one consolation game in the most one-sided Olympics final in history. Poor Maria was near tears at the end of the match. But there was nothing she could do except watch balls whizz pass her. Serena was in a devastating mode and just bulldozed her way to a great win. She is now the only player who has won all 4 slams and gold medals for both singles and doubles. By winning the doubles today, she has won all her matches on grass this year, singles and doubles. Achieving all these at the age of 30 is astonishing. We are privileged to see a legend in action and hopefully, she will continue to give her best now that she has won everything.

Victoria Azarenka def. Maria Kirilenko 6-3 6-4

A slighty more competitive match than the final but the result was never in doubt though. Kirilenko gave Victoria a good workout but Azarenka had too much firepower. Poor Maria was so frustrated that she slammed her racquet and cried on court in the 2nd set. She must be disappointed at being so close to winning a medal. With Victoria winning, all 3 slam winners of this year has a medal. This is a perfect representation of WTA. Credit must be given to all 3 girls for fighting it out in this unique event. Congrats girls. I'm sure they will remember this moment for the rest of their lifes.
