Sydney, Hobart: Humiliated

Sydney final:

Agnieszka Radwanska def. Dominika Cibulkova 6-0 6-0

Spectators who paid good money for this final ought to be angered. Dominika Cibulkova just couldn't keep the ball in play and resulted in the most lopsided final since 2006 Quebec City. Agnieszka caps off her fabulous 2 weeks with a perfect record and sky high confidence going into Melbourne. Cibulkova faltered badly in her most important match and this will sting her for a while. Won't be surprised to see her losing early in Melbourne. With this win, Radwanska should be up there among the favourites to capture the Australian Open crown.

Hobart SF:

Mona Barthel def. Kirsten Flipkens 6-4 6-4

Pretty dismal match from these 2 players but Barthel played better in critical moments. I predicted correctly that the German will come through. Flipkens shouldn't be too upset as she did upset former Roland Garros champion here. There's something about Hobart that Mona obviously enjoys, having captured the title here last year as well. Her chance of defending is very high, as her opponent is Elena Vesnina, an ultimate headcase in finals.

Elena Vesnina def. Sloane Stephens 6-2 6-2

That was some piss poor performance from the young American. It looked like she didn't even try as she couldn't cope with the windy conditions. Sloane needs to mature and learn that not everyday is Sunday. Champions find a way to win despite tiredness or bad conditions. Giving up just like that isn't giving the spectators any respect. Elena will contest for her first (!) title in 7 final appearances. Will she finally capture her elusive title?
