(20) Roberta Vinci (ITA) d. (2) Agnieszka Radwanska (POL) 61 64
Roberta Vinci gets the job done and kicks Agnieszka Radwanska out of the tournament. Radwanska's form was below par and only managed to reach the 4th round by virtue of her opponents self-destructing. It's good to see a player reach her first slam quarter-final at the age of 29. Shows that if you believe in yourself, you can achieve anything. Radwanska needs to rethink her schedule as she is not doing her body any favour by overplaying. She is close to the top rank but the way she is attempting to get there is deplorable.
(10) Sara Errani (ITA) d. (6) Angelique Kerber (GER) 76(5) 63
Kerber gets a taste of her own medicine as Errani outlasts the German in this 4th round encounter. The German had the task of being the aggressor in this match but she failed to outhit Errani. The pesky Italian irritated her with her tenacity and Kerber was eventually undone by her errors. Errani seems to have Kerber's number as she similarly upset Angelique in Roland Garros. This is Sara's 3rd quarter-final showing in a Slam this year and she looks set to qualify for the YEC. She faces her best friend and doubles partner, Vinci in the quarter-finals. Should be an interesting match with differing styles.
