Azarenka proves her dominance over Sharapova on hard courts with another win on this surface. Maria fought hard though in the third set, saving tons of break points. However, it was undone by her mistakes on Azarenka's service games. Victoria was cruising through her service games while Sharapova had to save break points in all her service games. Eventually she faltered and lost her final service game. Well, she left her heart out on court and there's nothing to be ashamed of. Victoria cements her number 1 position with another slam final appearance and will be hungry to take revenge on Serena. She plays Serena better than Maria does. So I expect an entertaining final.

I don't think anyone's surprised at this result. Sara went in the match with the wrong tactics of trying to defend against Serena's crazy hitting. Sara should have tried to match Serena with consistent counter-punching instead of running around the court aimlessly. Anyway, Sara wouldn't have won the match even if she deployed another tactic as Serena was just too good. This is Serena's title to lose.
