US Open QF: Unstoppable Serena

(10) Sara Errani def. (21) Roberta Vinci 6-2 6-4

Sara Errani reaches her second semi-finals of a Grand Slam this year by ousting best friend and doubles partner, Roberta Vinci in straight sets. Errani just exploited Vinci's weakness which is a lack of a topspin backhand and hammered that side relentlessly. Sadly, it wasn't such a close fight as expected as Vinci buckled badly under the pressure. Sara will face an uphill task of playing Serena Williams next.

(4) Serena Williams def. (12) Ana Ivanovic 6-1 6-3

So much for getting revenge on Serena Williams. Ana Ivanovic shouldn't say these kind of things because this will only spur Serena play more ruthlessly. Serena was untouchable in the first set with her pinpoint serves and returns. As expected, Serena walloped Ana's backhand until an opening came up. Ana actually competed well in the ground exchanges but was just too eager to end the point when the ball came to her forehand. Tons of unforced errors leaked from that side too, causing this lop-sided score. Looks like Serena will dance her way to another final as Errani doesn't have the firepower to trouble Serena as well.
