(4) Serena Williams vs. (12) Ana Ivanovic
Serena Williams seems unstoppable in recent months but Ana Ivanovic will be eager to prove us wrong. However, Ana has never won a set off Serena before so it will be a tough task for the Serbian. Serena will exploit Ana's gaping weakness, her backhand and just outhit Ana's strength, her forehand. We witnessed in 2009 Dubai when Serena actually overpowered Ana in terms of forehand power, so Serena shouldn't be too worried. Ana should be just grateful for reaching her first quarter-finals in 4 years and build on that.
Pick: Williams in 2 sets
(10) Sara Errani vs. (21) Roberta Vinci
Doubles partners and best friends face off in this all Italian quarter-finals. Who said that Italian tennis is all about Francesca Schiavone and Flavia Pennetta. With these 2 players, I'm sure Italian tennis is in good hands. Very contrasting styles from these 2 players and I'm sure they know each other's game inside out. Roberta's strategy would most probably be go all out on the attack and try to finish points at the net while Sara would be the plain opposite, defending all the way until a slight opening occurs. Vinci's form has been red hot recently but Sara is the more steady and experienced (on the big stage) player. Tough to pick one but I'm sure the tennis will be very entertaining.
Pick: Errani in 3 sets
