To be honest, Samantha has already surprised me by reaching this far as her form coming into this event was very disappointing. She faces an uphill task of beating Victoria Azarenka for a place in the semi-finals. Sadly, I think this is the end of the road for the Australian as Victoria has won all the 6 matches that they have played before. Stosur didn't even win a set in all their encounters. Somehow, Samantha's game just doesn't trouble the world number 1 at all. Azarenka will like her chances for her first semi-finals in the US Open.

(3) Maria Sharapova vs. (11) Marion Bartoli
It will be a fist-pump galore for these 2 players who will do anything to pump themselves up. Sharapova leads the heads to heads at 4-0 and Bartoli has never taken a set of Maria. So it should be an easy match for the Russian. However, Maria needs to be cautious as once Bartoli gets in the zone, there's nothing much her opponent can do. Having said that, I believe Marion has expended too much energy in her upset of Kvitova and will almost definitely have a letdown here. She needs to manage her emotions better because she will be spent before she even steps on the court.
