Sorry for the delay in updating. 2nd round action has been complete. Not many surprises though as almost all the seeds went through.
2nd round:
Venus Williams def. Aleksandra Wozniak 6-1 6-3
Guess who's back! Venus Williams takes down another player easily to reach the 3rd round. No signs of any illness from Venus this time. Maybe she means business. She sets up a mouth-watering clash with Angelique Kerber who had just beaten her a few months ago. Venus will be hungry for revenge so the German would have to bring her A game.
Caroline Wozniacki def. Yanina Wickmayer 6-4 3-6 6-3
Caroline wins 2 matches! That's something to celebrate! Well, she's totally not in-form and has drawn 2 of the weakest players in the draw. Losing a set to Anne Keothavong is disgraceful. Losing a set to Yanina might be expected, but the Belgian's form is piss-poor recently. So that's not a remarkable feat. Now, Caroline will face Daniela Hantuchova, a very handy grasscourter. However, given how mentally frail Hantuchova is, I wouldn't bet on the Slovak winning. Can somebody tell me which god is Caroline worshipping? ;)
Petra Kvitova def. Peng Shuai 7-5 2-6 6-1
Petra Kvitova is dropping sets to players who she has no business losing to. After dropping a set against Bondarenko, she dropped yet another set to Peng, who is struggling with a knee injury. This doesn't bode well at all for the former Wimbledon champion. But the important thing is, she emerged the winner. Let's see if she can clean up her act and eventually play herself to form.
