Day 10: Errani fights for semi-final debut

Semi-finalists have emerged!

(6) Samantha Stosur def. (15) Dominika Cibulkova 6-4 6-1

Like predicted, Dominika couldn't handle Samantha's top-spin game and was conquered easily. Just a bad match-up for Cibulkova. But Samantha was very impressive in this match, hitting 30 winners to only 13 unforced errors. Looks like she is handling the pressure of being the favourite very well. I find it impossible to picture anyone else in the final.

(21) Sara Errani def. (10) Angelique Kerber 6-3 7-6(2)

Sara Errani finally claimed her first win over a top 10 player. She did so by beating Angelique Kerber, who was up a break 4 times in the 2nd set. However, Kerber did not seize her opportunities well and saw the tenacious Errani fight back. Kerber had 2 set points but played too conservatively and payed the price for it. Kudos to Errani for taking advantage of Kerber's passiveness. After a QF showing in Australian, Sara now is also a semi-finalist in Paris. This year has been great for her and I believe she will go out swinging in her next match.
