Tamira surprise!

Oh wow! What have we got here? WTA continues to surprise as we have a completely random winner here this week!

Eastbourne:

Tamira Paszek def. (5) Angelique Kerber 5-7 6-3 7-5

Facing 5 match points, Tamira Paszek saved all of them and managed to win her biggest title of her career. I first saw Tamira when she played Justine Henin about 4 years ago. She had the guts and even won a set off the then world number 1. Sadly, I also saw her collapse in her epic match against Jankovic in Australian Open 2009, where she was so close to winning but just couldn't find the finishing touch. So it was a nice surprise to see her rebound back. With a 2-13 win-loss record for this year against her opponent's 40 match wins, this is truly a huge upset. I just wonder if she has any gas left in the tank for Wimbledon against former number 1 Caroline Wozniacki. You don't want to peak for the wrong event.

Rosmalen:

(8) Nadia Petrova def. Urszula Radwanska 6-4 6-3

Career title number 11 and first on grass. Congratulations to Nadia for getting back into the top 20. It's tough for someone to taste success and struggle to get back to the top. But Nadia kept hanging on and this week, she rampaged through the field to her first grass court title. Would have been interesting to see a match-up between Kim and Nadia but it was not meant to be. Nadia is a dark horse to look out for in Wimbledon when her serve is clicking. She is in the elder Radwanska's bracket with Venus and Li Na looming. However, when she's on, she almost unstoppable.
