Match focus:

Ekaterina Makarova vs. Petra Kvitova

2011 Wimbledon champion will have her hands full against former champion, Ekaterina Makarova in her opening round. Makarova loves grass and took out several big names 2 years ago when she won this event. Kvitova must take this seriously or else she might be upset by the tall Russian. However, I expect Petra to win this. After all, Makarova did lose to Oudin last week.

Pick: Kvitova in 2 tight sets

Agnieszka Radwanska vs. Tsvetana Pironkova

Radwanska takes on grass GOAT, Tsvetana Pironkova in her first match on the green stuff. For your information, Radwanska is not too shabby on grass; having on Eastbourne before. So I don't see how Pironkova is going to win here. She might take a set, but I think victory for Agnieszka is inevitable.

Pick: Radwanska in straight sets

Marion Bartoli vs. Sorana Cirstea

Marion is looking to break her slump her as she returns to her best surface. She will meet the ever-unpredictable Sorana Cirstea. Well, Sorana isn't a threat here on grass so I totally expect a beat-down from Marion. If Bartoli struggles here, it would not bode well for the Frenchwoman in Wimbledon. Hopefully Marion cruises and gets a much needed confidence boost for Wimbledon.

Pick: Bartoli in 2 easy sets

Jelena Jankovic vs. Sofia Arvidsson

Jelena Jankovic just reached a grass court final. She has to be the favourite here right? But if you take a closer look at the opponents she defeated, you will still have a huge question mark on her form. The only respectable player she beat last week was Zheng Jie and she struggled through that match. To top things up, she lost to Melanie Oudin of all people. So that's why I think Sofia has a chance here to make some noise. Jelena will be tired from the travelling and if Sofia takes her chances, she can emerge as the winner.

Pick: Arvidsson in 2 sets

Kim Clijsters vs. Kateryna Bondarenko

Kim Clijsters is back! Did I say that yesterday? I don't care! KIM CLIJSTERS IS BACK!!!! She was slated to play Sara Errani but Kateryna Bondarenko spoilt the party by beating Sara in her first round. Still, Kim has to be careful as Bondarenko plays well on this surface. The main thing for Kim is to stay focused and concentrate. If she does that, I don't see Bondarenko troubling her.

Pick: Clijsters dominates in 2 sets.

Sure win bets: Dominika Cibulkova, Marion Bartoli, Angelique Kerber
Upset alert: Jelena Jankovic, Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Yanina Wickmayer
