Match Focus:

Na Li CHN (7) vs Christina McHale USA

As we go into the second week, more intriguing matches will surface. This is one of them. The American has been knocking on the door of top 30 for the past year but seemed to be stuck there. A fine showing her will cement her place in the top 30. She easily out played compatriot Lauren Davis here and looks to be in fine form. Li, the defending champion on the other hand is in supreme form now. She easily took out her first 2 opponents in dominant fashion. Will McHale irritate Na into incessant errors? Or will Li be too strong for the quick American?

Pick: Li in 2 sets

Kaia Kanepi EST (23) vs Caroline Wozniacki DEN (9)

Hard-hitting Kaia facing the ultimate retriever, Caroline Wozniacki. This contrast of style should make this match a nice one. It will be good to see if either players adapt their game style to counter each other. Kaia has beaten Caroline before and in her losses, have had tight sets with her. Caro's aura of invincibility is gone now so it'll be interesting to see Kaia swing freely. As evidenced by her previous round, Caro still depends on her opponent's momentum. Once her opponent starts to hit the balls in, there is nothing much Caro can do.

Pick: Kaia in 3 tight sets

Arantxa Rus NED vs Julia Goerges GER (25)

This should have been Serena Williams vs Julia Goerges! (WTF SERENA!) Anyway, the tournament goes on with the GOAT. Arantxa Rus upset Kim Clijsters last year (bitch!) and has equalled her best showing this year. Will she continue winning or will she fade back to oblivion? Julia will have to change her gameplan as Arantxa is a leftie and has a good forehand. So Julia's weaker backhand will get a good workout today. Still, I think the German will be too steady for Arantxa.

Pick: Goerges in 2 tight sets
