Angelique Kerber vs Ekaterina Makarova

Rosmalen:

Francesca Schiavone vs. Kim Clijsters

Dominika Cibulkova vs. Nadia Petrova
Sofia Arvidsson vs. Urszula Radwanska

Preview:

Tsvetana Pironkova vs Tamira Paszek

2 new grass GOATs clash in this quarter-final match up. Doing absolutely nothing for this year, both woke up and upset their higher ranked opponents to reach this stage. Tsvetana has a bigger serve which should give her an adavantage. She needs to keep her first serve percentage up, not to let Tamira get a look at many weak second serves.

Pick: Pironkova in 2 sets

Angelique Kerber vs Ekaterina Makarova

New top tenner Angelique Kerber faces grass specialist, Ekaterina Makarova. Makarova has already taken out Petra Kvitova, who's to stop her from clinching another upset? Kerber is not too impressive on this surface but she is tenacious and fights to the bitter end. Makarova needs to keep her assault going and not hold back. Or else Kerber will sneak away with another win.

Pick: Makarova in 2 tight sets

Francesca Schiavone vs. Kim Clijsters

Kim Clijsters is back!!! Have I repeated myself again? Well, I don't care! SHE IS BACK!! AND WINNING!!! WOOHOO!!! Dispatching Kateryna Bondarenko easily, Kim seemed to be back on rhythm. When Kim's in rhythm, she almost unstoppable. And she faces her pigeon, Francesca Schiavone. The head to head between these 2 players is one sided to the extreme; Schiavone's only win came as a walkover. I don't see any change in this pattern as Francesca just played 2 marathon matches and Kim had a full day's rest before this match.

Pick: Clijsters cruises with easy win.

Dominika Cibulkova vs. Nadia Petrova

Pocket rocket Cibulkova meets big serving Nadia Petrova in this match. It will all boil down to who returns better. Cibulkova's weak delivery puts her at a disadvantage immediately; but her impressive return game can trouble Nadia. Nadia needs to keep her guessing by varying her serve and go for the kicker which troubles the short Slovak. Petrova also needs to cover the net more as the longer the points go, the more advantage for Cibulkova.

Pick: Cibulkova in 3 sets

Sure win bets: Marion Bartoli, Kim Clijsters, Roberta Vinci
Upset alert: Angelique Kerber, Sofia Arvidsson
