Petra Kvitova had a very easy time against Varvara Lepchenko in her previous round, erasing all doubts about her form. She will face Li's vanquisher, Yaroslava Shvedova. I predicted Yaroslava will be tired as she came through all the way through qualifying. But, she proved me wrong (well, Li helped her a lot though by hitting all the errors) and managed to win against the defending champion. Will she have enough in her tank? Petra Kvitova to me is the favourite to clinch this title now. She has been playing herself to form which is good to see. You don't want to peak too early.

(2) Maria Sharapova vs (23) Kaia Kanepi
Maria Sharapova seemed to be troubled by her wrist after a fall against Klara Zakopalova in her previous round. She claimed that it was fine but there must be a concern if she keeping moving it as if she wants to loosen it. We will see here if she's telling the truth. Sharapova now has the heavy expectations as she is the highest seed left and with a tournament win here, she will complete her career slam. Will she crumble under the pressure? Or will Kanepi crumble first? Kanepi's habit of going away when she's in winning positions will eventually bite her. And Sharapova is one of the most mentally toughest players on tour.
