Birmingham:

R.Vinci (ITA) [4] v J.Zheng (CHN)
E.Makarova (RUS) [8] v S.Hsieh (TPE) [13]
J.Jankovic (SRB) [5] v M.Doi or S.Foretz-G.
M.Oudin (USA) v I.Falconi (USA)
Bad Gastein:

Pervak vs. Scholl
Meusburger vs. Wickmayer
Larsson vs. Minella
Cabeza Candela vs. Cornet
Match focus:

(5) Jelena Jankovic vs. Misaki Doi/Stephanie Foretz-Gacon

If there is an easier path to the semi-finals, then someone must be worshipping the tennis god. After getting a walkover from Casey Dellacqua, Jelena faces someone who has yet to complete their 3rd round match. A fit an fully fresh player meets another who has to play 2 matches in a day. Who has the advantage? If Jelena manages to screw this up, she shouldn't even bother playing tennis.

Pick: Jankovic in 2 easy sets

(4) Roberta Vinci vs. (Q) Zheng Jie

I always thought Roberta Vinci had a natural grass court game. Her deep and skidding slices translates well onto this surface, not to mention her volleying skills. Why she has most of her success on clay baffles me. Zheng also favours grass as she reached the Wimbledon semi-finals a few years ago. Her flat groundstrokes skids off the surface which will trouble a lot of players. Interesting to see Zheng has opted to play qualifying when she is high enough for a direct main entry. Maybe she committed to late? Anyway, more matches on grass means more practice.

Pick: Vinci in 3 sets

Yvonne Meusburger vs (2) Yanina Wickmayer

There's something about Bad Gastein that Yvonne Meusburger obviously likes. Maybe it's because it's her home country, or maybe it's because it's an irrelevant event where no top player would even care. LOL... Anyway, she faces the highest seed left, Yanina Wickmayer. If Yanina loses this... Well, stranger things have happened.

Pick: Wickmayer in 2 easy sets
