(6) Samantha Stosur vs. (21) Sara Errani
Errani has already defeated 2 former Roland Garros champion and notched her first win over a top 10 player. What's going to stop her from achieving more? Well, in front of her stands the formidable Samantha Stosur. Samantha, as mentioned before, plays a totally different game and looks very happy to take out non top-tenners so far. It is the top players who can handle her spin that she has problems with. Besides, Samantha took out Errani just a few weeks ago in Rome, where Errani had home crowd advantage. So unless Errani grew 10 inches overnight, I don't see how Samantha is losing this.
Pick: Stosur in straight sets
(2) Maria Sharapova vs. (4) Petra Kvitova
2011 Wimbledon final rematch here. Clash of the titans, war of the worlds, battle of the Amazonian ladies. This is the match to look out for. Petra seemed to have Maria's number by beating her several times last year but she hasn't won a match against Maria this year. Will she turn the tide here? One has to keep in mind that the prospect of Sharapova completing her career slam is looming over Maria's head. Will the added pressure get to her? Besides, Petra has already bettered her previous showing and has nothing to lose. Will invincible Petra show up? Or will mentally strong Masha prevail? Well, just grab your popcorn and enjoy this match.
Pick: Sharapova in 3 sets
